In loving Memory of Allan A. Albert father, husband, mechanic, cyclist, motorcycle racer, friend. January 16, 1949 - August 5, 2017
Very sad to be the one to pass this news on to the community here but our dear friend Allan Albert has passed away. I do not have the details but it must Must have been sudden as he was planning on attending the upcoming USCRA races with his Honda 175 classic racer.
For those who did not know Allan, where would I start? I met Allan at one of our block parties a few (maybe more than a few) years ago- he saw my Honda vintage racer and came up to chat. He had been in the employ of the infamous AMOL Precision and had raced a CYB kitted Honda with AAMRR “back in the day”. Turns out he still had it and many parts at his place collecting dust. As time passed he did bring those race bikes back to life and roped many of us into the process (as friends do :D). He had shown them at our Javits display and other events over the years. His family owns Westwood Cycle bicycle shop out in Westwood, NJ where he was a manager and mechanic- these skills crossed over quite a bit and Allan even took some time to teach a Motorcycle Wheel building class a few years ago. Really nice of him to take the time and share his skills with the younger generation. I hope you get the idea that he was a sweet guy always ready to lend a helping hand… always smiling with a good story to tell.
He was really a great guy and I’m really in shock that this has happened. there are so many loccals who have been helped by Allan in some way whether cycling or motorcycling- he was just an amazing guy. He will be missed by many.
